The Brunswick Surfin' Turfs scored ten or more runs in four of their five games in week two and improved to 8-1 in the 2024 season.

The Turfs returned to Founders' Field on Tuesday with a 10-2 victory in seven innings over the High Point Air Force. Nick DiSanti (University of Mount Olive) picked up where he left off following his walk-off single in Sunday's contest against the Hope Mills Rock Fish by collecting four RBI against the Air Force. Zack Counts (Gordon State College) reached in all three of his plate appearances and came around to score each time. Landon Deese (Lander University) earned the save by tossing three scoreless frames and striking out three.

Brunswick was shut out until the bottom of the fifth on Shrimp n' Suds night with the New Bern Southpaws as New Bern's starter Branson Mccloud held the Shrimpin' Grits lineup to one hit while the Southpaws led 1-0.

Matt DiSanti (Finger Lakes CC) led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, Will Lafferty (Marshall University) followed with a single of his own and Hayden Friend (USC Union) brought home DiSanti on a base knock to even the game at one. Lafferty would score on an E2 to give Brunswick a 2-1 lead. Chance Jennings (Winthrop University) singled home another and Brenner Gursky (Brunswick CC) scored from third on a throw down to second in an effort to catch Jennings stealing during Branton Jernigan's (Brunswick CC) at-bat to make the score 4-1. In his season debut, Jernigan brought home Jennings with a bloop single into left field to cap off a five-run fifth.

The Shrimpin' Grits built on their lead in the seventh by scoring two and four in the eighth to defeat the Southpaws 11-3.

The Turfs then hosted the Clinton Royals on Friday and defeated the Royals 9-1. Cale Beckman, (Viterbo University) Ryan Schultz (Johnson & Whales University) and Deese held the Royals to four hits on the evening.

A week after traveling to Jacksonville to face the Ospreys, the two teams met again only this time at Founders' Field.

The Ospreys scored three in the opening half-inning, Brunswick then responded with an eight-run outburst to counter. The Turfs scored six of the runs with two outs. Friend hit a two-run single to give Brunswick a 4-3 lead, Jennings worked a walk with the bases loaded to make it a 5-3 game. Kyle Robitzsch came up after Jennings and cleared the bases with a double into the left-field corner to break things open.

Brunswick poured on another four in the fourth with Robitzsch and Gursky picking up RBI singles.

After tacking one on in the fifth, Robitzsch came through with another RBI single in the sixth, part of a six-run frame that made it a 19-3 game. Robitzsch finished 3-3 with 2 walks and 5 RBI.

Sean Smith (UNC Greensboro) went four innings as the starter and Thayer Tavormina (USC Upstate) pitched the last three innings in the 19-3 victory and fanned six.

The Turfs rounded out the week with another dominant win in a division matchup with the Sanford Spinners.

Ellis Windheim hit his first longball of the summer with a 2-run homer in the second inning and four different Turfs had at least two RBI (Friend, Windheim, Jordan Overton (Iona University) and Jennings).

On the hill Austin Long (USC Upstate) and Andrew Cedano (University of North Georgia) combined for 9 strikeouts to help improve the Surfin' Turfs to 8-1.

Brunswick will look to continue their hot start to the season on Tuesday against the Clinton Royals at 6 p.m. marking the start of a stretch where Brunswick will play eleven games in thirteen days.
